Semantic challenges in social software
On 16th April, 2008, Dr. Tanguy Coenen from VUB STARLab gave a speech "semantic challenges in social software" at IFIP workshop on “Emergent semantics in a social context”.
He has discussed social software and the way it is evolving, some semantic challenges which already exist or which could become relevant in the future, the aspects of the application of social software in organisations and provided a broad overview to incite further discussion during the workshop.
The importance on knowledge sharing between communities has been stressed.
His presentation at the workshop is attached in this page.
About the workshop
This workshop is an informal research seminar involving members of the IFIP WG 2.6, but open to external participation. The general topic is Emergent Semantics in Social Context, a new research paradigm which deals with the representation of semantics and the discovery of the proper interpretation of symbols as results of a self-organizing process performed by a community of distributed agents.
The workshop took place in Ascona, Switzerland.
